This timeline was created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball. The timeline was released online via the Los Angeles Dodgers website on April 15, 1997.
Although centered on his breaking the color barrier of major league baseball, this timeline series also displays his many other personal accomplishments and contributions that he made to society. The timeline was divided into three sections - his birth up until 1949, The 1950-1969, and finally 1970 up to the present day. Each event was a “clickable” area that opened a new page with additional photos and further explanation of what happened on that date in Jackie’s life.
The timeline series was used as an educational tools used in classrooms around the world to educate students about his life.
